Brief History

Mission Hills Leisure and Tourism Zone, Shenzhen

1. Introduction

The Mission Hills Leisure and Tourism Zone in Shenzhen was rated as a National 5A Tourist Attraction in May 2011. Located in Shenzhen, Guangdong, the zone primarily consists of the Mission Hills Golf Club. Spanning nearly 20 square kilometers of scenic mountains and waters across Shenzhen and Dongguan, the club integrates international design masterpieces and combines the styles of golf courses from five continents, making it the world's first golf club to boast a prestigious 216 holes.

Mission Hills also features golf villa complexes, Asia's largest country club, the Mission Hills Spa Resort Hotel, an international conference center, the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and the Cindy Reid Golf Academy, Asia's largest spa center, a diverse array of Chinese and Western cuisine, and various leisure facilities. The Mission Hills Golf Club has nearly ten thousand members, all of whom are renowned entrepreneurs and senior professionals from various industries. This gathering provides valuable business information resources and opportunities, as well as the experience and wisdom of entrepreneurs.

Since its establishment in 1992, the club has hosted over 20 international tournaments. From 20th-century "King of Golf" Jack Nicklaus to this century's golf legend Tiger Woods, and from the "World Cup" to the "Dynasty Cup," the club successfully secured the hosting rights for the Golf World Cup for 12 consecutive years from 2007 to 2018. Supporting facilities in the zone include golf villas, the country club, the Junhao Hotel, the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, the SPA, and more, forming China's golf community. The club is one of China's earlier golf resorts to obtain ISO14001 international environmental management certification.

3. Main Attractions

3.1 Golf Courses

Mission Hills Golf features courses designed by twelve of the world's top golf legends, making it the only place globally that gathers golf course styles from five continents.

3.1.1 World Cup Course

When the World Cup Course opened in 1995, it successfully hosted the 41st Golf World Cup Finals. To commemorate this grand event, it was specially named the World Cup Course. Jack Nicklaus skillfully utilized sand and water hazards, making full use of the undulating terrain to successfully blend the principles of pure technical challenge into different holes, creating challenging fairways. Famous players like Tiger Woods have left their impressive swings here. The 1995 World Cup and the 2001 Tiger Woods Challenge further established it as an outstanding course in China.

3.1.2 Vijay Course

Vijay Singh brought an Oceanian design style to Mission Hills. Wide, lush fairways, beautiful expansive lakes, and large, elongated bunker hazards are all exciting elements introduced by Singh. Particularly, he boldly incorporated design elements from the 18th hole of America's Pebble Beach, creating a unique landscape among Asian courses.

3.1.3 Jumbo Ozaki Course

The Jumbo Ozaki Course winds through towering mountains and ridges. Vast emerald lakes, awe-inspiring waterfalls, clear rivers, and distinctive stone walls compose an incomparable landscape painting. Many fairways utilize the natural terrain to create shot difficulty, showcasing masterful craftsmanship. Players often experience the joy of finding a way out in seemingly hopeless situations. The 9th and 18th greens are uniquely connected as one, unprecedented. From the 12th green to the 13th tee, players must pass through an 85-meter tunnel, as if entering a paradise, a feature players fondly recount.

3.1.4 Nick Faldo Course

Nick Faldo considers course design one of life's great pleasures. Within a vast landscape large enough to build two courses, Nick Faldo unleashed his creativity at Mission Hills to create this magnificent and expansive course, serving as both a scenic and competitive venue. The 16th green is built on a small island surrounded by water, offering great fun and challenge, hence it was once called the Dragon Island Course.

3.1.5 Ernie Els Course

The Ernie Els Course is Mission Hills' fifth course and a signature course designed by Ernie Els in Asia. The course combines "beauty and the beast," being both scenic and challenging. Perched on the high ground of the Mission Hills Shenzhen Club, the Ernie Els Course's characteristic is its use of elevation changes to create a commanding,居高临下的 course. The 4th tee has a 50-meter drop from the ground, a spectacular sight. During the construction of the 2nd green, an old underground air-raid shelter was unexpectedly discovered and preserved as a design element, becoming a landmark of the course.

3.1.6 Beida Course

Officially opened on August 1, 2007, the Beida Course is designer Beida's representative work in China and likely the final masterpiece of this design master. Adjacent to the Faldo Course, the Beida Course adheres to his consistent design style and philosophy. Thousands of plant species on the course; thousands of sleepers relocated from railways; small, tricky pot bunkers; and undulating,波浪式起伏 greens all present challenges beyond players' imagination. Quite creatively, between the 18th tee and green, a train of railway carriages winds alongside the fairway, leaving a very strong impression.

3.2 Mission Hills Shenzhen Clubhouse

The Mission Hills Shenzhen Clubhouse is the first clubhouse at Mission Hills, covering 300,000 square feet. Overlooking the famous World Cup Course designed by Jack Nicklaus and the Ernie Els Course, this clubhouse also serves as the transportation hub for the entire club, providing complimentary luxury shuttle bus services to and from other clubhouses. The clubhouse connects to the Mission Hills Five-Star Golf Spa Resort Hotel and is just steps away from the club's main administration building and residential areas.

Inside the Mission Hills Shenzhen Clubhouse, there is a large golf pro shop selling world-renowned brand golf apparel and equipment. In the bars, cafes, Chinese restaurant, and Japanese restaurant, you can enjoy a variety of cuisines. Besides using the clubhouse's large swimming pool and fitness center, you can also visit the spa center and foot massage center to enjoy traditional massage techniques, relieving the fatigue from a day of golf or business meetings, and rejuvenating yourself. The Shenzhen Clubhouse also features professional-grade conference centers and banquet halls.

The Mission Hills Shenzhen Clubhouse provides services for the courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, Jumbo Ozaki, and Vijay Singh at Mission Hills, as well as offering a golf driving range and putting greens for members and guests.

3.3 SPRING HILL Clubhouse Spa Center

Located on the first floor of the Shenzhen Clubhouse, the center is fully equipped with elegant and comfortable facilities, including shower rooms, sauna, steam rooms, hot and cold hydrotherapy pools, and other spa amenities, providing guests with a relaxing spa experience.

Treatment programs include a series of facial and body treatments, full-body massages, traditional Chinese medicine therapies, foot baths, manicures, and more. Combining traditional Chinese and Eastern-Western therapeutic wisdom, we offer you a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable spa journey.

Signature programs include Herbal Heat Massage, Hot Bamboo Recovery Massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine Health and Wellness Care, RF360° Series Instrument Facial, and the highly popular Diamond Pure Oxygen Ice Facial Treatment.

3.4 Mission Hills Eco-Sports Park

Covering 220,000 square meters, the Mission Hills Eco-Sports Park is currently a comprehensive theme park in North Shenzhen featuring ecological tourism, sports, leisure, and entertainment functions. The park is lush with greenery and offers pleasant scenery. 3.4.1 Children's Playground

A large outdoor children's castle imported from Sweden, covering over 1,500 square meters, integrates play,运动, and益智 (educational) functions, creating a delightful world where children can linger and enjoy themselves.

3.4.2 Mechanical Rides Theme

The park's newly upgraded mechanical rides area in May 2021 includes Shenzhen's first large Ferris wheel, Space Walk, bumper cars, pirate ship, giant swing, hurricane flying chairs,激战鲨鱼岛 (Shark Island Battle), and other mechanical ride carnival projects. The family theme is equipped with outdoor children's playgrounds and other projects, making it a great weekend destination for families.

3.4.3 Shenzhen Mission Hills Ocean World

An ocean-themed world integrating marine life科普 (science popularization), adorable animal viewing, interactive performances, and亲子互动体验 (parent-child interactive experiences). It pioneers promoting特色旅游观光 (characteristic tourism sightseeing), interactive entertainment, and cultural科普 (science popularization)三大产业 (three major industries) through海洋文化 (ocean culture), aiming to create a unique one-stop亲子海洋世界 (parent-child ocean world) and become another distinctive marine科普教育体验地 (science education experience destination) in Shenzhen.#### 3.4.4 Drift Kart E-Club Regardless of age or gender, everyone can experience the "speed and passion." Equipped with powerful motors, the karts drift and race along the winding tracks, with the sound of rubber tires gripping the ground filling the air. The sensations of sharp turns and rapid acceleration are sure to get the adrenaline pumping.

Located beside the picturesque lake within the park, this area is fully equipped with facilities and offers a rich selection of barbecue ingredients and beverages. It is an excellent spot for gatherings with family and friends!
